This tiny pinkie wallaby joey was given Intravenous fluids by sub-cutanious injection, by a long term carer (30 plus years).
An infection developed and Vets had to put a drain tube in.
I am not sure what caused the infection – “re-used” or contaminated IV solution. Some carers, to save money take very risky action and don’t make sure that everything used in brand new & professionally sterilised in sealed packages. That the IV solution port is wiped with a alcohol wipe prior to a needle being inserted ever time. That syringes, needles ect are never reused.
